These four awards, open to all those employed by Top Solar Contractor companies, highlight talent in the industry in different skill areas.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-99051\" src=\"https:\/\/www.solarpowerworldonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Advocate22-500x325.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"325\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.solarpowerworldonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Advocate22-500x325.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.solarpowerworldonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Advocate22-368x238.jpg 368w, https:\/\/www.solarpowerworldonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Advocate22.jpg 770w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The<strong> 2022 Top Solar Advocate <\/strong>award-winner is Mike Teresso, president of Escondido, California\u2019s, <a href=\"https:\/\/bakerhomeenergy.com\/\">Baker Electric Home Energy<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Since joining the<\/span><span class=\"s2\"> company in 2013, Teresso has used his leadership position to advocate for positive solar policy at both the state and federal level.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s2\">Teresso provided testimony before the California Public Utilities Commission during the NEM 2.0 hearings in 2016 and has recently been a vocal supporter of Save California Solar\u2019s campaign to rectify the CPUC\u2019s NEM 3.0 proposal. Teresso encourages his employees to get involved in these efforts, making Baker well-represented at rallies and other advocacy events.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><em><div class=\"su-pullquote su-pullquote-align-right\">\u201cHis passion for renewable energy has positioned him as a respected thought-leader, active in solar energy policy and driving the future of the industry.\u201d &#8211; Tina-Marie Neesen, marketing operations manager, Baker Electric Home Energy<\/div><\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s2\">Teresso also wrote an opinion piece against the initial NEM 3.0 proposal for the <i>San Diego Union-Tribune<\/i>, and appeared on local news stations talking about the implications of poor solar policy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s2\">At the national level, Teresso traveled to Washington, D.C., in 2017 to testify before the U.S. International Trade Commission during the Section 201 solar tariff hearings.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s2\">State, local and national policy has a major impact on solar markets in the United States, and leaders like Teresso are necessary for ensuring industry growth.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/solarpowerworldonline.com\/top-solar-contractors\/\"><em><strong>The <\/strong><\/em><strong>Solar Power World<\/strong><em><strong> Top Solar Contractors awards program is part of our annual Top Solar Contractors list.<\/strong><\/em><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Solar Power World editorial team is proud to continue our Top Solar Champions awards program that began in 2021.
