Support for solar across the country is growing increasingly bipartisan. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce\u2019s Global Energy Institute (GEI) released a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.globalenergyinstitute.org\/global-energy-institute-unveils-american-energy-cleaner-stronger-agenda\">poll<\/a> that showed 73% of voters support a \u201ccleaner, stronger\u201d energy agenda that uses more American energy and continues environmental progress, while just 21% of voters support the Green New Deal.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s2\">Conservatives for Clean Energy (CCE) recently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarpowerworldonline.com\/2019\/04\/north-carolina-conservatives-clean-energy-solar-support\/\">conducted<\/a> its fifth annual statewide survey of 600 voters in North Carolina to learn about public attitudes on energy issues. The results found 85% of voters, including 76% of Republicans, are more likely to support candidates for public office who support renewable energy options. It also found 77% of voters, including 66% of Republicans and 71% of unaffiliated voters, believe solar and wind energy represent technological advances in energy production and should be expanded to help meet North Carolina\u2019s future energy needs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s2\"> \u201cTechnology is changing our society, and voter attitudes reflect that,\u201d said Mark Fleming, CCE president and CEO, in a statement. \u201cRenewable energy, competition and consumer choice are clear priorities for North Carolina residents. This survey shows that these same voters want elected officials to enact pro-renewable, pro-competition policies.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s2\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarpowerworldonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/flag-stock-featured.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-85891 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.solarpowerworldonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/flag-stock-featured-500x325.png\" alt=\"Solar support is growing increasingly bipartisan \" width=\"500\" height=\"325\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.solarpowerworldonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/flag-stock-featured-500x325.png 500w, https:\/\/www.solarpowerworldonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/flag-stock-featured-368x238.png 368w, https:\/\/www.solarpowerworldonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/flag-stock-featured.png 770w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a>In its December 2018 study, \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/climatecommunication.yale.edu\/publications\/energy-in-the-american-mind-december-2018\/2\/\">Energy in the American Mind<\/a>,\u201d Yale University found strong bipartisan support for requiring utilities to use 100% clean energy. It also found a majority of Americans think transitioning to clean energy will benefit the economy, and that conservative Republican support for renewable energy research has increased by 30% in the past five years. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s2\">Bipartisan bills that favor solar reflect voter attitudes. Pennsylvania is working on a bipartisan <a href=\"https:\/\/www.penncapital-star.com\/blog\/bipartisan-bill-would-expand-access-to-solar-energy-in-pennsylvania\/\">bill<\/a> to open up the state\u2019s community solar market. The South Carolina House of Representatives unanimously passed a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarpowerworldonline.com\/2019\/02\/south-carolina-house-of-representatives-unanimously-passes-landmark-energy-bill\/\">landmark energy bill<\/a> that would expand solar in the state on a bipartisan vote. California is working on a bipartisan <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarpowerworldonline.com\/2019\/04\/california-solar-bill-of-rights-moves-forward-in-legislature\/\">Solar Bill of Rights<\/a> to ensure California consumers can invest in solar without penalties and interference from utilities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s2\">From sea to shining sea, it seems both sides of the aisle can agree on solar power\u2019s benefits.
