{"id":101626,"date":"2023-03-21T11:47:29","date_gmt":"2023-03-21T15:47:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.solarpowerworldonline.com\/?p=101626"},"modified":"2023-03-21T11:47:29","modified_gmt":"2023-03-21T15:47:29","slug":"meta-signs-ppa-on-texas-solar-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.solarpowerworldonline.com\/2023\/03\/meta-signs-ppa-on-texas-solar-project\/","title":{"rendered":"Meta signs PPA on 240-MW Texas solar project"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.avangrid.com\/\">AVANGRID<\/a>, a sustainable energy company, has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Meta, Facebook&#8217;s parent company, to procure renewable energy from True North, a 240-MW solar farm under development in Falls County, Texas, and AVANGRID\u2019s first solar facility in the state.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are proud to sign this agreement with a partner like Meta who, like us at AVANGRID, has a strong commitment to accelerating the energy transition in the U.S.,\u201d said Pedro Azagra, CEO of AVANGRID. \u201cWith projects like True North, we continue our mission of helping the country meet its ambitious clean energy goals, while also creating quality jobs and strengthening our local economies.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Since 2020, Meta\u2019s global operations have been supported by 100% renewable energy. The True North project will support Meta\u2019s upcoming data center in neighboring Temple, its second data center facility in Texas.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re excited to expand our partnership with AVANGRID to help bring new solar energy to support our local operations in Texas,\u201d said Urvi Parekh, head of renewable energy at Meta. \u201cTrue North will support our commitment to 100% renewable energy and represents additional investment and jobs for the region.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>True North is expected to reach commercial operation by early 2025. During its construction and operation, True North will create over 200 local jobs and is expected to pay over $40 million in property taxes over 25 years in this state.<\/p>\n<p><em>News item from
