{"id":100576,"date":"2022-11-28T11:35:48","date_gmt":"2022-11-28T16:35:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.solarpowerworldonline.com\/?p=100576"},"modified":"2023-03-01T13:43:08","modified_gmt":"2023-03-01T18:43:08","slug":"moss-enrolls-first-participants-in-new-florida-solar-apprenticeship-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.solarpowerworldonline.com\/2022\/11\/moss-enrolls-first-participants-in-new-florida-solar-apprenticeship-program\/","title":{"rendered":"Moss enrolls first participants in new Florida solar apprenticeship program"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-100596 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.solarpowerworldonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/moss-500x325.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"325\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.solarpowerworldonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/moss-500x325.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.solarpowerworldonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/moss-368x238.jpg 368w, https:\/\/www.solarpowerworldonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/moss.jpg 770w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/>This month, Moss Construction enrolled the first 20 participants in its innovative solar apprenticeship program that will train the future leaders of the booming utility-scale solar energy construction field.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Moss Apprenticeship Program was developed in response to the labor needs facing our growing industry as well as to address the recently passed IRA legislation requiring apprentice to journey worker ratios,\u201d said Andrew McAllister, president and chief scaling officer at Moss. \u201cIt also reinforces Moss\u2019 focus on safety and quality by having an exceptional workforce.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The program is conducted in conjunction with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarpowerworldonline.com\/2022\/05\/florida-creates-new-solar-installer-apprenticeship-program\/\">Florida Department of Education<\/a>. When they complete the program, apprentices will receive a Nationally Recognized Certificate in the Occupation of Solar Installer. The program will be expanded to cover all states that Moss traditionally builds solar and battery projects in across the nation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur apprentices receive 4,000 hours of supervised on-the-job training in all aspects of solar construction, along with 288 hours of related technical instruction,\u201d McAllister said. \u201cAs part of our program, we also provide leadership and key life skills designed to empower our workforce with knowledge. Our mission is twofold, creating career-minded, highly skilled, and well-trained workforce and well-rounded family members that are poised to achieve their potential. That is our mission.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Moss\u2019 Solar Installer Apprenticeship program is open to all Moss Team members. To be considered for the program, applicants must be at least 18 years old and meet other established program criteria.<\/p>\n<p><em>News item from
